March 2023

Here I am looking tired, posing with our book A Wondrous Night in one of the gift shops at Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

Hello 2023! First blog of the year. Better late than never. Here we are at the end of March, I couldn’t let this month pass without taking a moment to reflect on 2022 and share some exciting news.

Last year was a year like no other.
I am grateful for the lessons learned while embarking on my own as far as self-publishing goes. As many of you know my Mom and I released a new Christmas children’s book, A Wondrous Night. It was a project that had been in the works for some time, and we were thrilled to finally share it with the world.

The response to A Wondrous Night was beyond anything we could have imagined. Not only did it receive rave reviews, but it also sold over 400 copies (not including paperback books from Amazon) in just a few short months. From selling it at holiday art festivals to seeing the book displayed at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston gift shops, we couldn’t have asked for a better start. To everyone who purchased a copy, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your support means the world to us.

In addition to the success of the book, 2022 was also a great year in other ways. It was a year of growth, both personally and professionally. My wife and I squeezed in some much needed travelling too. And while it was hard to say goodbye to such a wonderful year, I am excited for what the future holds with Picture Day Press. Just another good note to add, I started Picture Day Press to publish picture books for kids. It has always been an idea of mine when I first started making art for kids almost 7 years ago. I am hoping some day Picture Day Press will become what I see it will be, a legit independent publishing house.

So what can you expect from my return to blogging in 2023? Well, you can expect more of the same as last year. I will be sharing my updates on our new book! Another Christmas story for kids. You can expect Picture Day Press updates and showcasing more breakdowns of this second book. I hope to inspire and encourage you with every post, and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes us.

So! I am thrilled to be back and look forward to sharing more with you in the coming months. Thank you for your continued support, and here’s to a wonderful 2023!

Until next time-TRA
